Mom's Art Exhibit Opening Night

Since this is a family blog, we felt it was a good idea to share just how proud we are of Mom Cuthbertson's successful art opening: "The Awakening: Memories of Greece". It was last night at the Fort Frances Museum and she had well over 120 people attend the evening. Below is a video courtesy of Fort Frances TV that shares a bit about the adventure Mom's been on this past several months since her trip to Greece. Her website: http://conniecuthbertson.ca will have the images of all 28 new paintings up within the next month. Way to go Mom!!!

A Day in the Life of Jessie

Jessie's been spending more and more time in her BebePod
and has almost complete control of her neck muscles -
pretty soon she'll enjoy time in her Bounce Baby
Bounce Activity Centre!

Jessie enjoying an episode of VeggieTales while Mommy
folds laundry - she LOVES the music and often "sings"
along with it!

Mommy can't resist close-ups of those amazing
eyes (and eyelashes!)

Morning smiles!

She was fussing the other night so I grabbed the Super C
flyer and told her to pick out some groceries for Mommy
and Daddy to buy. She spent a few minutes perusing the sales ...

... and then I think she got confused ...

Jessie you have to go to the store to buy the food ... you
can't eat it right out of the flyer!

Oh well ... it was a successful diversion tactic on Mommy and
Daddy's part and kept her happy until bathtime!

Jessie's New Headband & Playtime With Daddy!

Before Megan left to go back to school, the three of us went on a little shopping trip and when Auntie Meg saw this cute little headband ... she just couldn't resist!

And who can blame her?! Look at that cute little face, and that cute little headband! It just doesn't get any better than this!!

Jessie enjoys some playtime with Daddy (of course, Mommy zoomed in and cut Daddy out of this pic ... but just LOOK at those eyes!?! (I can't help myself!!!)

OK, here's one with Daddy ... Jessie's getting SO strong - She sits in her BebePod all on her own now and is rolling over front to back all the time! She's just getting so big - it's really hard to believe we're in Month 4 already!!

Jessie Has Visitors!

Mommy's cousin Ria was in town and got to enjoy some pre-Christmas snuggle-time with Jessie (much to the dismay of the rest of our family back in Fort ...) It was a lovely lunch and visit!

Auntie Meg flew in for a long weekend and got to enjoy some quality snuggles with Jessie - in this pic, Auntie Meg actually "saved the day" ... Jessie wasn't in a very good mood and Auntie Meg tried the pacifier one more time and ... success! It's official now - Jessie has finally traded in Mommy and Daddy's fingers for her sucky! Thank you Meg!

Jessie conks out in her bouncy chair ...
with her newfound love - her sucky!! YAY!

Auntie Meg spoiled Mommy with an amazing and delicious birthday cake (almost Auntie Mar quality - but of course, nothing beats Auntie Mar's cakes!!!) It was a lovely little birthday party! (Don't worry Ken fans - he had a birthday cheesecake two days earlier!!)

Another Milestone Achieved!

Just a quick note to share today's great thrill ... we were at Sears having some family photos done and when we were doing some "Jessie Tummy Time" pics, she started to flip out and then did just that! She rolled from her belly onto her back today for the very first time! YAY for Jessie - our strong little girl!

Month 4 Begins ...

It's official - we are now parents to a 3 month old ... it's very hard to believe just how fast the time has gone! We're nearing yet another Saturday which means Jessie is now 14 weeks old ... she's just shy of 18lbs. and is bursting out of most of her 6 month clothing and is continuing to amaze us with each new day.

In month 3 Jessie learned to reach for her receiving blankets and pull them to her mouth and she enjoyed holding on to objects placed into her hands for longer periods of time. She began reaching for toys and hanging onto them (and pulled them to her mouth in early Month 4). She will sit through story after story after story some days - and not the little 4 or 5 word board books - we're talking full, complete stories! She loves stories with lots of colourful pictures and rhythm (Dr. Seuss, etc.) and loves to help tell the story!

She had a bit of a revelation when we visited Gram and Grampie in PEI when she was given baths in the "big girl" bathtub and learned how to kick and splash like never before - and has continued to do so despite being put back into her smaller baby tub - she still absolutely loves her bathtime and is enjoying longer baths now too!

She's also beginning to show signs of a more stable routine to her day - while her daytime naps are still mostly sporatic, she goes to sleep around 7pm and starts her day around 8am with her first nap at 9:30am without fail. She enjoys a swing first thing in the morning while Mommy eats her breakfast and has become quite the pro at her Tummy Time and enjoys it as often as Mommy can squeeze it in! She's becoming quite the strong little girl and early in Month 4 proved this when placed in her BebePod and finally didn't need to be supported by Mommy or Daddy - amazing how just a few short weeks ago this wasn't possible!

We continue to be amazed by our little miracle ... below are just a few pics of our little 3 month old in her first week of Month 4 ...

Mommy placed this elephant toy on Jessie's lap all
week long and finally Jessie decided it was time to grab
him and give him a taste (see video below!)

We just can't get enough of her beautiful blue eyes!

All smiles (and chins!) in her BebePod!

Jessie's 1st Halloween!

Jessie's 1st Halloween was spent in PEI - we
couldn't resist taking some pictures of her
with the pumpkins too!

I suppose she wouldn't look so much like such a roly-poly
if she wasn't slumped back against the background. Ken's
had was behind her holding her up - but that belly is just
SOOOO cute that I couldn't resist putting up this pic!

Investigating the leaves ...

Smiling for Daddy!

I'd say she's getting used to the camera ... I love her
sparkly eyes in this shot!

Jessie was a monkey for Halloween - thanks to Daddy's
nickname for her! He's been calling her a monkey
since the day she was born! Jessie decided that we
just HAD to visit Grammie at work on Halloween
to show off her cute costume!

Daddy and "Jessie the Monkey" shopping at Home Hardware!
(And eating her monkey costume ...)

Our Little Monkey! Banana and all!

PEI Randoms of our Growing Girl!

Jessie now enjoys eating her receiving blankets -
along with her fingers and our fingers too! Pretty
soon it will just be everything in sight, I'm sure!

Enjoying some time in her Kick & Crawl - she LOVES
kicking the ball and looking at her reflection in the mirror!

Jessie helps Gram make pies! OK, Grammie made the pies,
Jessie was just supervising and providing enjoyable conversation.

Jessie get some snuggles from Daddy!

Jessie meets her Great Gram Ling!

Jessie snuggles with Aunt Debbie and visits with Great Gram Ling!

Jessie meets her Uncle Melvin!

(... that tongue of hers is ALWAYS out these days ... it's getting
harder and harder to get normal pictures of her!!)

Jessie gets some snuggles from Grampie!

Jessie meets Uncle Louis!

Tummy Time is FUN now! Finally!!

Jessie in her new winter hat from
Aunt Gail & Uncle John!
Again with those eyes ... they're
DEFINITELY Daddy's!

Uncle Calvin Meets Jessie!

We were so excited when Uncle Calvin surprised us all
by flying home for a visit! He had no trouble stepping into
his "uncle" shoes! Jessie LOVED him!

Daddy insisted that Uncle Calvin help with bathtime too!

Perhaps they're more alike then we realized! Jessie
spends some quality time reading the morning paper
with Uncle Calvin!

Jessie's First Celebration!

While in PEI, Jessie enjoyed her first wedding (cousins Rhonda & Chris Lewis) and her first party (the wedding reception!). She was a real gem - aside from being a bit of a show-stealer at times, she was also extremely content throughout most of the day. She slept through the entire wedding ceremony (we think perhaps because of the massive growth spurt she had earlier that week!) and was in the most pleasant mood for most of the reception - it was a great day and of course, the best part of all was welcoming Chris into our family!!

Gram & Jessie looking beautiful just before
leaving for the wedding.

The happy couple! Rhonda & Chris Lewis!

Gram & Jessie "playing" in between the wedding and the reception.
Jessie loves her new John Deere crinkly/sqeaky storybook!

Daddy & Jessie "chatting" with each other between the wedding
and reception back at Gram and Grampie's house.

Birthday Buddies! We have a really neat little birthday
phenomenon on Ken's side of the family ... in this picture
above, we have Courtney and Ryan Lynch (brother and
sister - Ken's cousin's kids) and Ryan was born on Nov. 16th -
which is also Ken's birthday ... as if that wasn't cool enough,
Jessie's birthday is the same as Courtney's - Aug. 9th! Not to
mention that Aug. 9th is also Ken's Aunt Lois and Uncle
Lester's Anniversary AND Jessie's Nanny & Papa
Cuthbertson's Anniversary too!

Courtney & Jessie - Birthday Buddies - Aug. 9th

Daddy & Jessie rockin' it out at the reception!

Jessie clapping for the speeches at the reception.

Ken's brother - Jessie's Uncle Calvin - surprised us all
by flying in for a week during our stay in PEI, which was
SUCH a treat! We were so thrilled to have the whole family
together and be able to introduce him to Jessie - it was an
awesome visit! Here we are at the reception together.

Sister of the Bride - Ken's cousin Lesley MacFadyen -
getting some snuggles with Jessie just before we took her
to our hotel room to put her to sleep with her very first
baby-sitters - Uncle Graham & Auntie Monica who flew
over from Halifax JUST to spend time with her (even if
she WAS sleeping!) We had a lovely lunch with them on
Saturday and then dinner with them at Graham's parents'
place on Sunday - so it was a GREAT visit!

The Bride - Rhonda Lewis with Jessie (just before bedtime!)

(she's actually NOT smiling here, she's beginning
to totally freak out because it was SO bed time!!)
