Jessie Visits Gram & Grampie in PEI

We arrived in PEI safe and sound on Monday after stopping for the night in Edmunston, NB for the night. Jessie had a great trip - she slept most of the trip and only fussed a little. Here are the first pics from our journey ...

This was the back seat of the Dodge Calibur - Mommy by
the passenger window, Jessie in the middle, Cash on the far
side - it was cozy, but much more comfortable than
travelling in the Kia Rio would've been!

(She was REALLY excited to cross!)

Welcome to PEI Jessie!! (still sleeping ...)

Jessie gets a bath in Gram and Grampie's big bathtub ...
she LOVES the extra space to kick and splash!

counter at Gram and Grampie's!

Jessie fell asleep holding her hands and Daddy took a
picture ... it woke her up, she fussed and needed to be
calmed back to sleep again, but it was well worth it
for this cute picture!!

Just a little note ...

So, Jessie had a bit of a rough week - she had her 2 month shots on Tuesday and although she cried a bit with each shot - I think I (Shaunna) probably cried more - OK, not really, but I really did tear up when she had the second and more painful of the two shots. I nursed her through both shots which I think helped a lot to comfort her and for the rest of the afternoon, she was fine - but we definitely needed the Tempra to help us through the next 3 days! She was obviously sore after the shots and until Thursday night was quite irritable, but Friday she was back to her cheerful self and all is right with the world again - thank goodness!

I guess last weekend was just practice ... we're packing up again (we didn't even have time to finish all our laundry from last weekend's adventure and we're off again on another adventure ... sorry Mom & Dad MacQuarrie ... we'll be monopolizing the laundry facilities as soon as we arrive!!) I've become a little more organized with my packing this go-around - so we should be in better shape to haul our little clan 12 hours to Prince Edward Island ... we thankfully have the benefit of a larger vehicle thanks to our wonderful friends Kathy and Terry - they graciously offered to swap vehicles for the next two weeks to give us a little more breathing room - a Dodge Calibur will be much more comfortable with all three of us AND the cat than our little Kia Rio would've been! Thanks to great friends!

And so, Jessie's second official road trip adventure begins tomorrow late afternoon (we're driving through the night so as not to throw Jessie's routine off completely!) and we can't wait to introduce Jessie to our island family and friends and celebrate Chris and Rhonda's marriage! It should be a fantastic visit!

P.S. The rest of the Thanksgiving Weekend pictures have been added to that posting below as promised! Enjoy!

Jessie's Morning Stories

These days, Jessie begins every morning with some pretty
enjoyable "awake" time - lots of smiles and coos. It only last
about a half an hour and then she's ready for another nap, but it's
well worth capturing on video!

Jessie & The Clock Reunite

Jessie has a bit of a relationship with the pendulum on our
bedroom clock and after a long weekend away from eachother,
they spent some quality time together ...

Another "Artsy Fartsy" Mommy Pic

I just can't help taking picture after picture of this
bright-eyed little girl! She's SO cute!

Jessie's 1st Road Trip - Thanksgiving Weekend in Southern Ontario

Jessie's first Thanksgiving Weekend was spent on Jessie's first Road Trip! We drove 7 hours to our first stop of the weekend - Waterloo, ON to visit Auntie Meg. Jessie was a super star on the drive - like clockwork, she needed to eat and be changed every two hours, enjoying her "awake time" in her car seat chatting with her "friends" - a snail, butterfly and flower that hang from above. When she'd tire of their company, she'd fall asleep without any problem - what a blessing! Here are a few pics from our grand adventure ...

Picture time at Sir Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, ON.

Jessie "wowed" all passersby with her charming bright eyes and smiles!

Ken picked up Nanny on Friday at the airport and Nanny promptly began enjoying snuggle and play time with Jessie in attempt to make up for the last month - Nanny couldn't believe how much Jessie had grown in just a handful of weeks!

Beautiful pictures of Nanny and Jessie enjoying some snuggles together!

Auntie Meg helped with Jessie's bathtime on Friday night - Jessie got a bath in Auntie's kitchen sink with a beach towel to offer some relief from the cold stainless steel! She enjoyed this bath as well as usual! She kicks her legs a lot more in the water than she used to - fun, fun!

The "milk belly" grows ... pure cream, I tell you ...

Snuggles from Mommy after her bath in attempt to keep warm!

A few days late, but a party nonetheless! Yes, Meg is seen here lighting her own birthday candles - but fear not, we supplied the presents, cake and singing!

Meg blowing out the candles that she lit herself moments before ...

Jessie meets Auntie Cathy and Uncle Dave Saunders at Kelsey's in Stratford, ON - it was a quick visit, but a lovely one and Jessie was SO glad to meet her Great Aunt and Uncle!

Jessie snoozing with her new Webkinz Panda Bear (a gift from Auntie Cathy!) at Kelsey's while Mommy visited with Auntie Cathy and Uncle Dave.

We enjoyed a marvelous Thanksgiving Dinner in Toronto on Sunday night with Auntie Karen, Uncle John, Sami, Zoe, Wyn, Nanny & Auntie Meg - it was a full house and (as usual!) the most delicious meal! Jessie got plenty of snuggles from everyone!

Nanny was obviously focused on Jessie and NOT
Meg or Wyn in this shot! (Who can blame her though?!)

makes sure Jessie doesn't fall off the couch ...

Auntie Karen enjoys some more snuggle time with Jessie.

Don't worry Wyn, it's not you ... Jessie had a LONG
weekend and was just tired ...

Auntie Karen fought Nanny and won I guess ... although,
these pics are from Nanny's camera, so naturally they
wouldn't have pictures of her in them ... she DID get to hold
Jessie though!

The heaven-sent bouncy chair ... sometimes Jessie just needs
to be left alone and not held, but that doesn't stop the Aunties
from getting in some quality time!

We stopped at "The Big Apple" pie factory on the way home along Hwy 401 - Jessie got to see how pies are made and watch Mommy and Daddy try a bit - it was a great place to stop and stretch our legs and give Jessie a break from being in her car seat - after the weekend we had, she was getting a bit tired of the travel (and so were we!!).

Yummy Apple Pie!

Jessie in her car seat on the ride home enjoying her new Taggies "Princess" book from Nanny - she LOVES the page with the shiny silver flower on it! We also read one of her favourites "Green Eggs and Ham" when we got stuck in a bit of a traffic jam to help pass the time!

It was a great weekend - and a great first road trip for Jessie ... now that we've had a bit of practice with the "travel thing" we can streamline our packing and finetune a few things before our next trip ... a "big one" to Prince Edward Island ... next week!!

Tummy Time Improves!

Jessie isn't the biggest fan of her tummy time, but she's getting better - as these pictures prove!

Mommy's Artsy Fartsy Pics

And so we end another month with Jessie ... it's hard to believe two months have passed since we welcomed her into our little family, but here we are nonetheless! She has brought such joy to us and so many others ... we can't wait to find out what month 3 holds!

In month two we saw Jessie's first real smiles, heard some stellar "coos" and chuckles, and watched her find her hands, discover her thumb and begin to grasp objects when they're placed in her hands. She still favours her bathtime over any other time of day, but is now beginning to enjoy gazing and swinging at her toys and cooing back to us when we talk to her. She enjoyed her first storybooks and prefers Dr. Seuss and other rhythmic stories and will often pitch in and try to help us tell the story. She also enjoyed her first Baby Einstein DVD "Baby Bach" which she usually "talks to" the entire time it's on. She also is enjoying much longer awake times and loves to sit in her bouncy chair and sing along to her Fun Baby CD while Mommy and Daddy make supper. Jessie now weighs 14lbs. 3oz. and is well into her 3-6 month old clothing - amazing!
